Encouraging minibeasts
Minibeasts are some of the superheroes of the natural world. They help to break down dead leaves, they aerate the soil, and they also create an underground system that transfers nutrients between plants. It’s easy to encourage more minibeasts into your outside space; try leaving some areas wild to provide some different habitats for spiders, ladybirds, worms, and beetles. You can also have a look at our post on microvolunteering to find out how to make a simple bug hotel.
If you’d like to get to know even more amazing micro creatures, then take a look at our minibeast stickers. Featuring worms, bees, and ladybirds, they’re the perfect school stickers for combining a great reward and learning about the natural world. You can also get a pack completely free with our latest monthly offer with every purchase over £7.50 until the 31stMay 2023.

Adding more minibeasts to your garden will also mean that you’ll soon see lots of feathered friends. You can also tempt more in by putting out food. Sunflower seeds are a good all rounder, or you could even make your own bird diner by spreading some peanut butter on a pine cone, before rolling in bird seeds. Hang it from a branch and wait for the sound of flapping wings!
